October 27 - Sunset with the Soldiers

Begin orchestration of The Gospel According to St. Matthew: XXV. The Demand for a Miracle and a bit of Journal work on another Harriet workday before the inevitable blitz to Diablo Valley, finishing up the Richard Rodger's Sound of Music: Do-Re-Mi for dictation and board harmony, plus taking a look-listen to more Alban Berg Wozzeck, now the Act III inventions.

A few hours at home, upon Harriet's return, grading papers, and back out past the Lagoons toward

Mt. Diablo and the

Sulfur Springs locales of

Long Barn and

Eden,

then over the bridge past Martinez's refineries for the

evening class from Richard Wagner's Tristan und Isolde to Giocomo Puccini's Turandot and looking ahead to

the early 20th Century.

Brief visit with Maria Gusenkov and her sister; then with Owen and Doug to a new spot -- the new suspiciously-named BJ's in the old Houlihan's, remarkably redone for those who enjoy open, noisy environments, but at least they're open later for food and drink. Drive Owen back to his place in the new car, playing Elijah Ghost, which he suggests should be done by DVC chorus and orchestra...

Home to do the publication-preparation and visual libretto to Sex and the Bible: 5. Abraham and Isaac: XII. The Burial and compose page 13 of Pini di Surriento: IV. Torna a Via Appia.
