Up not as early as we suspect, thankfully, and off with John to morning coffeespot,
then up Oak Glen Boulevard past the Crafton Hills (Zanja Peak)

towards Mt. San Bernardino,

appearing fitfully through the clouds,
to the Mill Creek Ranger Station
(backed by
Morton Peak,

at the mouth of the canyon),
for a stroll south on Bryant over the divide (part of an extremely exurban variant of the Pacific Crest from the San Bernardinos to San Jacintos) --

Zanja to the west,

fronted by sculpted shrubs of

ambitious enterprises

with stately
palm duos

and trios adjacent to

other

developments;

Yucaipa

Ridge
east,

past
more
parks,

prospects,
and portents.
A drive follows up Ivy,

to the intersection of Jefferson
(canyons
and strata so close but far),

south where the pavement ends,
east towards
Oak Glen.

After a stop at Jose's across from the Zanja and

patriotism,

there's further meandering to processional palms and

planal plantings,

plus freeway

merges to

vistas of Cucamonga and Telegraph Peaks

in the San Gabriels,
returning with John for El Torito entertainment.
