January 7 - Another Day in Paradise
Down
to St. Mary's College of California to sign forms,
and cannot resist a walk (astoundingly, at a mere c. 30-45 minutes, longer than anything taken on holiday) on the Lafayette-Moraga Trail, with views of the surrounding hills afar and
right here (a bit chill, but all-in-all, not at all bad for a January 7).
The return along St. Mary's Road yields sights abstract
and concrete;
sun and shadow

adjacent to the sign of the cross,
back to the signage.
A drive through Orinda,
past the sidezoomers (re a NYT article of awhile back) before
Shakespeare Hill and through the Caldecott
ultimately leads into the fog by Refinery Canyon,
the Carquinez Bridges,
particularly the shining Zampa shivering in the halflight (to which our local Chron architectural critic has also taken a shine, understandably),
then all else is cloudy darkness save for the neon,
and a ray of hope (although doesn't look like much fun in the Tissot) while orchestrating
