October 23 - Powerful, Clean, Shining

Board meeting for San Francisco Cabaret Opera, heading with Harriet south in the new vehicle, making for clearer shots of a North Lagoon / Vaca Mountains sunset than has been the case (still with the iPhone camera, however, rather than the more legit Fuji).

Before this, repare for publication and do visual libretto for Sex and the Bible: The Opera (Part I): 5. Abraham and Isaac: II. The Separation (fourth strain), compose page 9 of Pini di Surriento, orchestrate page 4 of The Gospel According to St. Matthew: XXIV. Beelzebub, along with some 21st-Century Music work.

Then the slant southwest through Lagoon Valley to

Berkeley's Chamber Arts with Cynthia, Eliza,

and H followed by dinner with all of above at

Paul and Ann's Restaurant opposite

the Claremont,

returning in the dark four-door night to do the song-and-dance for

April 15 - The Light at the End of the Tunnel

Up and out early, speeding reasonably legally toward St. Mary's, for what has turned out to be the only teaching gig of the week, with music of Johann Sebastian Bach's Cothen and Leipzig periods,

then a walk on the Briones-to-Diablo Trail, Diablowise, from the Lafayette Ridge Staging Area,

past Spring Hill Elementary School on

Pleasant Hill Boulevard to the

Eucalyptus (and, temporarily, Horse) Trailhead, seemingly

straight up Acalanes Ridge,

past more eucalypti in a windbreak,

with views of Las Trampas,

Acalanes High (the Dons are down there somewhere)

Deer Hill Road,

Elizabeth Canyon Pass on

Lafayette Ridge, and

the Briones Highlands.

There's time to reach a saddle in a high bowl,

above

and below pre-recession housing.

The return is mostly the same, save for a variant stretch past a tree

swing

and colorful side ridges.

After scouting out another Acalanes trailhead on Monarch Ridge Boulevard,

with heroic vistas of Mt. Diablo and Walnut Creek,

it's lunch at China Garden (with its own Devil's view), serendipidously meeting up with Amy Brinkman, from Elephant Bar, then

finishing the orchestration of and recording

Solomon:

VII. This Woman follows at Diablo Valley College, before making the leap over the Bay to

Noh Space in San Francisco for a very fine Dioclesian/Diocletian rehearsal, including the latter's I. First Paragraph Music,

IV. What Shall I Do?

(with Alexandra Jerinic [Diocletian],

Kimberly Anderman [Drusilla],

and Maria Mikheyenko [Edward Gibbon]),

and VI. Country Dance, with its ups and

downs. Down home following, beginning the instrumental disposition of

March 13 - Chantly Charms of the Hills

Finish Psalm 23, Op. 172, and the orchestration of

King David: II. Evil Spirit (part of the album Hill Country Music, and learning a new temporary recording technique by converting Sibelius file into audio, and increasing dynamics and reverb in GarageBand) before heading out to

Berkeley, up University Avenue to the beckoning, undulating hills near

The Hillside Club (or should we say Clvb?, and, exactly, how shall we say it?),

with its cozy views of redwoods

and stately architecture,

beyond an impressive mantle, for tonight's amazing San Francisco Cabaret Opera / Goat Hall Productions presentation of W.A. Mozart's

The Marriage of Figaro, directed by Harriet March Page, to a packed house including

DVC Music Literature students.

Somewhere in all this, before leaving home and in the interval between initial set-up and box-office work, orchestrate all of K.D.: III. What You Doing?
