January 7 - Another Day in Paradise


Down


to St. Mary's College of California to sign forms,


and cannot resist a walk (astoundingly, at a mere c. 30-45 minutes, longer than anything taken on holiday) on the Lafayette-Moraga Trail, with views of the surrounding hills afar and



right here (a bit chill, but all-in-all, not at all bad for a January 7).



The return along St. Mary's Road yields sights abstract



and concrete;


sun and shadow



work their enchantments,


looping on St. Mary's Road,


adjacent to the sign of the cross,


back to the signage.


A drive through Orinda,


past the sidezoomers (re a NYT article of awhile back) before


Shakespeare Hill and through the Caldecott


ultimately leads into the fog by Refinery Canyon,


the Carquinez Bridges,


particularly the shining Zampa shivering in the halflight (to which our local Chron architectural critic has also taken a shine, understandably),


then all else is cloudy darkness save for the neon,



and a ray of hope (although doesn't look like much fun in the Tissot) while orchestrating
